2011 Eureka! Fellow Amy Geddes

Amy GeddesOnce upon a time I was the co-manager of a Wal-Mart Supercenter.  After 10 years I decided to go back to school and do something I truly loved.  After getting a job at my local library I discovered that I was destined to be a librarian!  Two years later I had my masters and was running a small branch in Nevada. After moving to San Diego I became a librarian with the San Diego County Library system-which this year was a Library of the Year Special Mention!  It is truly a dynamic and exciting job and I love the people with whom I work.

I spend a great deal of time working with partners in our community such as the Housing and Opportunities Collaborative and Aging and Independent services to bring new opportunities to our customers.  Most of the programs (we do around 70 free programs a month at our branch) that we offer are through some sort of local partnership-I get to meet so many interesting people.

I am looking forward to the Eureka! Leadership Institute as a tool to help me become a leader in developing specific local partnerships to aid in the creation of programming to tackle some of the local issues that our customers face.
