2011 Eureka! Fellow Morgan Pershing
My name is Morgan Rose Pershing and I work at the Santa Clara City Library. I am an Adult Services Librarian and am in charge of senior services which includes outreach to the homebound and managing the large print collection. I am also the AS webmaster, tweeter and facebooker, and I run the Adult Summer Reading Program. In my past life I was an Executive Admin, but more recently I have worked for several different public library systems, academic libraries and special libraries.
I wanted to attend the Eureka! Leadership Institute because I am interested in learning how I can better serve my community as a librarian and I was very inspired by what past Eurekans have accomplished. I hope to come away with a new perspective on this ever-changing profession and a new network made up of similar-minded California librarians.
Aside from fulfilling the spinster librarian stereotype (loves cats, reading, and Joss Whedon), I enjoy volunteering with One Brick, eating avocados, looking at the art of Julia Wertz, listening to Dillinger Four and not acting my age. And gerunds. When I grow up I might go to fashion school or be a park ranger.
