2011 Eureka! Fellow Ryan Baker
Ryan Baker is the City Librarian for Irwindale Public Library.
Ryan holds an MLIS from San Jose State University and has held previous positions at the Long Beach Public Library, Alhambra Public Library, and the Art and Music Library at California Institute of the Arts. He has worked in Adult Literacy, Children’s Service, and Young Adult Service prior to moving into administration. Ryan is also a member of ALSC’s Great Web Site committee and the ALA Constitution and Bylaws committee.
Outside of the library setting, Ryan is involved with cave mapping and exploration. He has worked on cave survey and cartography projects for the National Park Service and the Bureau of Land Management. He has also taken part on expeditions for the National Institute of Archeology of Belize, and the Karst Research Institute of China.
Ryan lives with his wife and 9-year-old daughter, both of whom share his love of books, learning and exploration.
