2012 Eureka Fellow: Chase McMunn

Chase McMunnMy name is Chase McMunn, and I am the Community Library Manager for the Topanga Library, the newest library in the County of Los Angeles Public Library system. As Community Library Manager I supervise a staff of eleven, perform community outreach, plan adult programming for the library, oversee the library’s collection, and provide reference and technical assistance to the public. Topanga is an amazing and vibrant place, and I’ve had the pleasure of working with several creative groups such as the Topanga Canyon Gallery, and the Topanga Film Festival.

I joined the County of Los Angeles Public Library after receiving my MLIS from UCLA in 2008. Before becoming Community Library Manager I served as Teen Services Librarian for East Los Angeles Library, and Adult Services Librarian for La Crescenta Library.

The Eureka Leadership Institute offers an excellent opportunity to expand my professional network and learn from other bright and daring librarians across California. It also presents a unique opportunity to hone my leadership skills and grow professionally.

When I am not in the library I enjoy being outdoors running, hiking, and camping, and traveling. I am also a coffee enthusiast; when indoors I enjoy a strong cup of coffee and a good book. I live with my wife, a teacher, who shares my love of reading and learning.
