2012 Eureka Fellow: Lisa Brock

Lisa BrockHello, my name is Lisa Brock and I am Branch Manager at the Desert Hot Springs Library which is part of the Riverside County Library System. In my position I manage the day-to-day operations, supervise staff, do collection development, plan programs, and outreach.  I have been in this position for a year and a half now and before this was a teen librarian at the Palm Desert Library. I worked in this position for 3 years and did all the teen programming, collection development, and worked reference. Working with teens was a new experience for me I truly grew to love the excitement and wonder teens have for things they are passionate about.

Currently I am a member of my systems Young Adult Team and a member of the Inland Library Systems Young Adult Committee.  As part of these teams I have been able to present and share summer reading ideas with other librarians throughout the Inland Empire. I am also a member of CLA, ALA, and PLA.

By attending the Eureka! Leadership Institute I hope to grow my confidence and learn to be a more effective manager.

When I am not working I like to read, go hiking with my dachshund Charlie, listen to the Adam Carolla Podcast, and watch bad reality TV.
