2009 Eureka! Leadership Institute: Hala Shonouda
Hello, my name is Hala Shonouda. I am the branch manager of the Library Connection @
Adams Square of the Glendale Public Library. Although Library Connection is a small
branch at just 2,200 square feet, it is located in a very densely populated area of
Glendale and has many visitors. Before Library Connection first opened in July 2008,
I participated in its development and built the opening day collection. Now I manage
its operations, collection, programming, and outreach efforts. I first started working
for the Glendale Public Library in 2001 as a library assistant then became a children's
librarian in 2004. Previous to that, I held library page, aide, assistant, and librarian
positions within the County of Los Angeles Public Library system and also worked as a
cataloging assistant at Loyola Marymount University. I received my bachelor's degree
in Liberal Studies from Cal State L.A. in 2000 and my MLIS degree from San Jose State
University in 2003.
I am excited about attending the Eureka Institute and look forward to a rewarding and enriching experience that will help me grow and evolve as a librarian. I am also looking forward to working with other participants and mentors who will bring a wealth of experiences and diversity of perspectives to this learning process.
