2009 Eureka! Leadership Institute: Kathy Middleton

kaye mooreI'm excited to be part of the Eureka! Leadership Institute because I know I'll become a better library leader as a result of this opportunity. I value the chance to focus on new skills over the coming year, and to test them out a variety of projects and situations. Currently, I'm the Senior Community Library Manager for Antioch Library, Contra Costa County Library, but in October will transfer to San Ramon and Dougherty Station Libraries.

I worked in the graphics field for a number of years before returning to school for a MA in Museum Studies. I worked a couple of years in archives and museums with librarians and curators, and quickly realized librarians had a better way of organizing things. As a result, I returned to school to get my MLIS and graduated in 2006. Along the way I started working in the public library and never left.

I enjoy any outdoor activity and currently live on a regional preserve in Round Valley (near Brentwood) with my son and husband. My daughter who works in a jail library lives in the Bay Area also.
