2009 Eureka! Leadership Institute: Pui-Ching Ho

pui-ching hoAfter graduating from the Library School at UCLA, I started working for the County of Los Angeles Public Library system as a Reference Librarian at the Hacienda Heights Library. Several years later, I was promoted to become a Community Library Manager at the Duarte Library. Currently, I am a Community Library Manager at the San Dimas Library. My responsibilities include the supervision of four full-time and twenty part-time employees, developing and maintaining positive relations with the city staff and community members, and the overall management of the facility.

In the past years, I participated at various conferences such as the American Library Association Conference, the California Library Association Conference, and the Urban Libraries Council Partners for Success Conference, etc. Also, I chaired or served as a member of different task force and committees in the County of Los Angeles Public Library system. I collaborated with volunteers from various organizations to host workshops, special programs and exhibitions at the public library. I enjoy participating in a variety of city sponsored events and take advantage of those opportunities to promote library services. Also, I participated in Day in the District by visiting the office of local government officials several times in the past years.

I want to attend this leadership program because the Eureka! Leadership Institute creates a unique environment that allows library professionals to learn and develop leadership skills. I will have the opportunity to work on a project that interests me as well as benefits the library and the community that it serves.

I enjoy reading, dancing, hiking, taking photos, watching musicals, visiting museums, participating at different cultural festivals and collecting deliciously simple recipes.
